    Job Title: Grants-Finance Manager
    Employment: Twelve Months Benefited Exempt
    Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
    Supervises: Non-exempt Accounts Payable and Purchasing staff members

    Qualifications:
    • High School diploma or equivalent required
    • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
    • At least ten years successful experience in public school finance (preferred)
    • At least ten years successful experience in State and Federal grants management (preferred)
    • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

    Required Skills:
    • Experience and knowledge of school business management.
    • Knowledge of auditing requirements and the Uniform System of Financial Records
    • Experience in all phases of school district accounting and budgeting principles.
    • Demonstrated aptitude for planning and budgeting project proposals.
    • Demonstrates the ability to analyze data and disseminate program effectiveness.
    • Experience and knowledge in supervision of office practices and procedures.
    • Ability to communicate with others in a clear and precise manner.
    • Ability to independently analyze issues, solve problems, create plans of action.
    • Ability to keep confidentiality of records, correspondence, sensitive information.
    • Relates to the public, staff and administration in a positive manner.
    • Effectively use a variety of computer programs to include, but not limited to: Microsoft Office applications, data collection and complex database programs.
    • Demonstrates sound and practical decision-making.
    • Demonstrates strong organizational skills that are detail-oriented
    • Demonstrates clear writing skills.
    • Demonstrates the ability to work harmoniously and effectively with school personnel, pupils, parents and community.
    • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills in dealing with staff and the general public.



    Essential Functions:
    • Maintains and reconciles general fixed asset listing and performs physical inventory in accordance with the USFR.
    • Reconciles district checking accounts.
    • Prepare reports on budget, expenses, and revenue for all funds as needed.
    • Oversee, input and assist in utilization of the computer system to manage the business and financial affairs of the district.
    • Review and reconcile deposits made to the Maricopa County School Superintendent’s Office and the County Treasurer
    • Prepare Journal Entries to the General Ledger as needed
    • Manages Extracurricular Tax Credit/Gifts and Donations programs
    • Prepare State, Federal, and District reports and budgets.
    • Become knowledgeable and stay current regarding policies, regulations and legal requirements as related to School Finance.
    • Manage all Federal and State grants under the direction of the Director of Teaching and Learning.
    • Complete Federal and State monitoring related to Federal and State Programs.
    • Prepare reports and studies for the purpose of providing information to the Board, Superintendent, Chief Financial Officer, other staff and the public or to comply with the regulatory requirements
    • Evaluates all federal legislation, projects and programs for the possibilities and opportunities they offer for educational grants, entitlements and allocations offered relevant to the needs of the district.
    • Maintains all records required for monitoring, evaluation and auditing of federal and state programs.
    • Monitors internal procedures to insure fiscal integrity of program funds in compliance with regulations governing expenditures of such funds.
    • Develops, implements and monitors procedures to insure timely submission of applications, amendments, reports, census data and evaluations required for federal, and state projects.
    • Represent the district at Phoenix Curriculum Council and all Title meetings.
    • Assist school office personnel in Finance related questions.
    • Assist immediate supervisor in the recruitment and selection of classified staff.
    • Attends meetings for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
    • Respond to inquiries for the purpose of providing information and/or direction.
    • Prioritize work and decisions in the absence of the immediate supervisor.
    • Supervise and maintain department schedules.
    • Regular and punctual attendance required to meet essential function of job responsibilities.
    • Assist the Director of Teaching and Learning to organize in accomplishing district goals.
    • Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer.
