    Job Goal: To mentor beginning teachers, years 1-3, in an effort to build teacher efficacy.

    · Masters of Arts/Science Degree preferred
    · National Board Certified Teacher preferred
    · Arizona Master Teacher preferred
    · Outstanding human relations skills
    · Minimum of five (5) years successful teaching experience
    · Demonstrated excellence in delivering and developing professional learning opportunities
    · Knowledge of Child/Adolescent development

    Performance Responsibilities:
    • Establishes communication and working relationships with school administration, district administrative units, instructional coaches, and teachers.
    • Assists in accomplishing district goals.
    • Communicate the work of the new teacher induction program within the district and the community.
    • Differentiate mentor support based on prior teaching experience for teachers new to the district.
    • Visit every beginning teacher's classroom and support teachers in professional growth.
    • Establish beginning teacher need based on classroom observations.
    • Collaborate with Teacher Retention and Professional Development Coordinator to design a system of support based on beginning teacher needs
    • Meet with high priority beginning teachers every 2 weeks in a plan, observe, debrief cycle
    • Evaluate data and revise beginning teacher mentor program based on best practice.
    • Collaborates with the Teacher Retention and Professional Development Coordinator on the collection of formative evaluation data, and making any changes in the program design to ensure its success.
    • Supports beginning teachers with the district’s implementation of the Teacher Evaluation System.
    • Maintain professional growth through graduate and/or staff development courses, professional organizations, seminars, and/or professional literature.
    • Schedule quarterly meetings with mentors, beginning teachers, and building administrators for staff development that is relevant to the needs of the new and continuing teacher.
    • Monitor program components throughout the year.
    • Collect data to measure success of program and analyze cost/benefits to support continuation of the program.
    • Consistent with the induction program, observe and provide coaching for new/novice teachers in buildings and arrange for mentee observations and collaboration with other teachers as appropriate.
    • Provide reports as directed
    • Maintain confidentiality.
