    Job Title: Accounts Payable Clerk
    Employment: Twelve Months
    Reports to: Director of Business
    Supervises: No Supervisory Responsibilities
    • High School Graduate or equivalent.
    • Expertise to perform multiple non-technical tasks.
    • Previous accounting experience preferred.
    • Previous school experience preferred.

    • Ability to type 40 WPM.
    • Command of business English and able to write letters using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation.
    • Knowledge of office procedures and basic bookkeeping procedures.
    • Knowledge of the operation of standard office machines and demonstrates computer literacy.
    • Communicate with others in a clear and precise manner and work cooperatively and tactfully with staff and public even in times of stress.
    • Maintain confidentiality of records, correspondence and conferences.
    • Relates to the public and staff in a positive manner.

    Essential Functions:
    • Maintains records of bills, vouchers, and other documents for the purpose of providing an audit trail and meeting accounting policies and practices.
    • Assists in monitoring account line balances of assigned departments for the purpose of ensuring that commercial warrants are accurate and within budget limits and that fiscal practices are compliant with financial, legal and/or administrative requirements.
    • Researches discrepancies of financial information and/or documentation (e.g. travel claims, invoice variances, program expenditure reports, etc) for the purpose of ensuring accuracy and adhering to accounting procedures.
    • Responds to inquiries of staff, the public and/or vendors for the purpose of providing information and/or direction as may be required.
    • Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
    • Attends meeting for the purpose of conveying and/or receiving information on accounts payable information.
    Other duties as assigned.
