    Job Title: Bus Monitor
    Employment: Student contact days + in-service(s)
    Salary: Classified Salary Schedule, Grade 5
    Reports to: Maintenance and Transportation Supervisor
    Supervises: Students
    Qualifications:
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • First aid certificate/ CPR certified.
    • Experience with bus safety and procedures.
    Essential Functions:
    • Ensures safety of children including securing safety belts, car seats, and wheelchairs on buses; restraining violent children, attending to minor medical and personal hygiene needs; and helping students to and from buses and vehicles.
    • Communicates clearly and professionally with students, parents, and other district personnel.
    • Monitors student behavior and ensures safety measures are followed.
    • Participates in bus evacuation drills and training.
    • Assists driver in cleaning and making sure buses are equipped and stocked with supplies.
    • Possesses knowledge of emergency procedures to handle various special education students.
    • Reports undisciplined students to the proper authority and fills out required forms.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
